Wood Destroying Insects

Carpenter Ants nest inside damp, dead wood. An infestation can be spotted by piles of wood shaving under wooden items and rustling noises within woodwork.

Carpenter Bees, also known as Wood Bees, bore small holes into untreated wood. Emerging in the spring, these pests can cause damage to the structure of your home, as well as its appearance.

Powderpost Beetles are second only to termites in their ability to damage wood. These destructive pests can be difficult to identify, but can typically be identified by small round holes and wood powder underneath.

Subterranean termites can cause significant damage to wood and are the only termite species found in Kansas. The wood that these termites eat through is endless. When it comes to these destructive pests, Best Pest has you covered.

Wood borers are insects that damage trees and other wood products. Wood borers will gravitate towards damaged or stressed trees over healthy ones. When identifying a wood borer infestation, look for holes, scratches, and powder in and around trees.
