General Pests

Ant infestations are extremely common in Kansas. The most common sign of an ant infestation is ant hills outside, seeing them foraging along your siding, or in/on your floors, windows, and countertops. Rain or extremely dry weather conditions can impact the severity of the issue as ants will find ways inside to shelter and/or find water.

The signs of a cockroach infestation are as easy to spot as they are unpleasant. When dealing with a cockroach infestation, look for droppings or egg cases in cabinets and drawers, shed skins,  or damage to leather or cardboard goods in the homes. At Best Pest, treatments are specifically tailored to your situation and the species of cockroach you are dealing with.

Crickets are typically drawn to warm, moist environments. A cricket infestation can typically be identified by seeing crickets around your home or hearing a chirping noise.

Ground Beetles are an insect that can be commonly confused with cockroaches or carpet beetles but make up the most prominent insect family. The signs of a ground beetle infestation include spotting beetles in large numbers around, smelling a strong odor, and hearing popping sounds.

Ladybugs are known for their iconic red and black exoskeleton, although the colors can range from yellow to orange as well. Although ladybugs are mostly harmless, Asian ladybeetles, which have similar coloring, can aggravate asthma or cause allergic reactions.

Thousands of mite species can infest a home. They are small pests, usually not measuring more than a millimeter.

Scorpions are not a pest you want to have around. They are known for their painful stings that can cause mild irritation to humans. Seeing scorpions in your home may be a sign of infestation.

Silverfish - much like the name would imply- are silver in color and have a fishlike nature. They typically can be found in moist, humid areas of a home - including bathrooms, attics, or bedrooms. Silverfish are known to infest wallpaper, books, and envelopes, causing damage to these items. Keep an eye out for holes or surface etchings on these objects when spotting an infestation.

There are hundreds of spider species throughout Kansas. Although the majority are not venomous, a spider infestation is not a pleasant experience. To spot a spider infestation, look for spider webs and spider sightings.
